The Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet is one of the most useful Mystic Skills you can unlock early, especially if you enjoy exploration, stealth, or clever ways to control enemies. It’s one of the four main puzzle skills in the game, and it lets you snatch items from pockets from a distance.
Because some important skills in the game are tucked behind small encounters, this one is easy to miss unless you know where to look. Here’s how to unlock Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet.
How to unlock Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet
You unlock Celestial Seize by starting the Foul Play Exploration Quest in Qinghe, specifically at Heaven’s Pier. After fast-travelling to the place, walk or run through the area until you see Hu Wei, a man boasting that nobody can beat him at drinking games. Nearby sits Qiu Yuehai, and speaking with him reveals the truth that Hu Wei isn’t unbeatable; he’s cheating.

Instead of letting you expose him directly, Qiu Yuehai gives you a smarter approach. He tells you to steal the bottle of Nullifying Pills Hu Wei uses to give himself an unfair advantage. And to pull that off, he teaches you Celestial Seize on the spot.
How to use Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet
Once Qiu Yuehai teaches you the skill:
- Activate the Skill button.
- Aim at the Nullifying Pill bottle as your target.
- Snatch it from a distance with Celestial Seize.

This allows you to pickpocket the bottle without getting close, proving Hu Wei’s cheating method. After stealing the vial, confront him again and challenge him to a fair drinking match. Without his pills, he loses immediately.
The villagers chase him out, the scam is exposed, and Celestial Seize permanently unlocks for your use afterward.
How Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet works
Celestial Seize ability in Where Winds Meet stays in your Mystic Skills, and you can use it for both exploration and combat.
Exploration
- Pull distant items toward you.
- Grab loot from chests, bags, or objects that are slightly out of reach.
- Pickpocket NPCs from afar (with a success chance attached).
Don’t expect pickpocketing to work every time, as there’s RNG involved, and some NPCs are too sharp to steal from easily.
Combat
Celestial Seize acts as a disarming skill:
- Rip a weapon out of an enemy’s hand.
- Counterattack using their weapon.
- Deal physical damage, attribute damage, and Qi damage.
- Damage scales with the weight of the stolen weapon.
Heavier weapons mean heavier hits, and the animation is stylish but the cooldown is long, so the ability works best in co-op, where teammates can take advantage of the opening created by the disarm.
