Recommended Arts for fighting Zheng E The Frostwing

Zheng’s main weakness is Stonesplit, so anything that helps drain his Qi bar faster will put you in control of the fight.

How to beat Zheng E The Frostwing in Where Winds Meet

Rely on parries to drain his Qi

Zheng’s entire kit encourages you to parry more than you attack. He’s one of the few campaign bosses who can parry you back, so if you mash combos, he’ll turn your aggression into an opening for himself. Stick to single hits, reset your stance, and wait for his next tell.

Consistent parries will burn down his Qi bar and eventually let you perform an Execute attack, which deals massive damage.

Watch for his continuous charge and melee mixups

Zheng stays unpredictable on the ground:

  • He chains continuous charge attacks that force you to react quickly.
  • His fan strikes can spawn ice thorns, a delayed follow-up that often catches those who stay too close.
  • Whenever he’s mid-combo, reposition to his side or behind him; it avoids the ice thorn and gives you a clean view of his next startup animation.

Handle his projectiles correctly

He’ll frequently jump into the air and throw five ice projectiles. Almost all of these can be parried, which is safer than dodging since parries chip away at his Qi bar. However, one attack (Double Wave) behaves differently.

  • You cannot parry it.
  • Dodge sideways the moment both waves form.

Mixing parries and dodges depending on the projectile pattern is key to staying alive.

Use Meridian Touch to interrupt the red-glow fan attack

Early in the fight, Zheng will occasionally perform a red-glow fan strike that’s extremely hard to parry. This is when Meridian Touch shines.

  • Activate it right as he winds up.
  • It instantly cancels the attack, knocks him down, and gives you a perfect window to unload damage.

This is one of the safest ways to accelerate the fight. When his bar empties the first time, Phase 2 begins. Zheng restores health, leaps upward, and summons a massive ice pillar to perch on.

From here, he fires three wide ice waves across the battlefield:

  • Wave 1: Unblockable - dodge sideways.
  • Wave 2: Unblockable - dodge sideways.
  • Wave 3: A red attack - parry this to shatter the ice pillar.

Breaking the pillar brings Zheng crashing back to the ground and resets the fight to a manageable space. This is one of the biggest turning points, so make sure your parry timing is sharp for the third wave.

Zheng E mixes ground dashes, airborne ice waves, and oversized ice-blade swings. Remember the basic rule:

  • Golden glow = dodge
  • Red glow = parry

He often mixes these right after moving airborne, so keep your camera on him while repositioning.
