Let's look at some tips and tricks that will help you defeat the foe:
Look out for the howl

Before performing some of the attacks, Knight Artorias howls first. As such, if you hear him do that, be prepared to block as the howl will be followed by either of the two attacks:
- A dash followed by a horizontal slash.
- A spinning slash that deals damage to players in the enemy's radius. Also provides an opportunity to attack after spinning ends
Be aware of lunges

At times during the battle, Knight Artorias will lunge toward you to thrust you with its sword. However, before the enemy does that, it crouches briefly, signalling the incoming attack. Be ready to dodge when you see that happen.
Do note that while long-ranged characters do have an advantage in this boss fight due to the enemy primarily being a melee attacker, they can easily be targeted by the lunge thrusts.
Expect a slam when Knight Artorias leaps in the air

During one of Artorias' moves, the enemy will leap upward before performing a somersault and then slamming at your location. As such, look out for that. Also note that the foe can perform this move twice in succession.
Phase 2 triggers after depleting health

Once you have depleted one-third of Knight Artorias' health in Elden Ring Nightreign, it powers up with dark energy and unleashes an explosion, signaling the beginning of phase two. You can simply avoid damage from the blast by moving away from the enemy.

Furthermore, this ability summons projectiles that follow you while also buffing the speed and strength of Knight Artorias. However, the projectiles aren't as quick and can be easily evaded.
Dashing sword combo
Phase two of the Knight Artorias fight also adds another threat. The enemy will now be able to dash and perform combos where it performs multiple slashes in succession. It is important for you to time your blocks and dodges precisely.
After the attack sequence ends, Artorias does get immobilized for a second. It is advised to use this window to launch a counterattack.
Just by relying on the tips and tricks mentioned above, you will gradually be able to defeat Knight Artorias in Elden Ring Nightreign.
