The Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign is a terrifying new night boss. The Demon Prince only appears during Night 2 and only if you have defeated the Demon in Pain and the Demon from Below during Night 1. Once the ring begins closing on Night 2, this boss will appear on the Northern side of the map in a massive citadel, where you must battle it to the death.

The first thing you need to know is that the Demon Prince takes on the form of either the Demon in Pain or the Demon from Below, depending on which one you kill last. For instance, if you kill the Demon from Below last, it will fly away in the end instead of perishing.

Later, once you reach the citadel, the Demon Prince will spawn in the same form and with the same movesets. Both prior mini-bosses share some moves, but each has unique ones in the new Forsaken Hollows DLC.

Here are some basic attacks used by both versions of the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign.

There are several basic attacks that both versions of the Demon Prince perform. Two of the most basic attacks that the Night boss will perform are the Claw Strikes and the Flying Slam. The names are rather self-explanatory. When performing a Claw Strike, the Demon Prince will either strike enemies right in front of him or to the sides, so remain extremely mobile in his proximity.

The Flying Slam is an AOE attack. The boss will launch himself into the air and come crashing down, emitting an explosion upon impact. You may attack him while he is in the air, but this is an extremely short window, so it's best to maintain your distance. Similarly, he will also perform an Overhead Slam, where he will raise his arms above his head and slam the ground with great power.

The Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign, will perform two different attacks with a singular arm engulfed in flame each. If his right arm gets covered in flames, he will spawn a line of lava, which will damage enemies who touch it. If his left arm catches fire, he will instead release fireballs that get buried underground and explode after a few seconds.

Finally, a wave of flames and smoke will rise when the boss takes off into the air, and a pool of lava will erupt when he uses his claws to strike upward from the ground. Now, let us discuss version-specific attacks.

Specific attacks

Demon from Below

The Demon from Below version of the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign makes one of the most difficult Night bosses to beat. He will charge up energy and release a Fire Beam that zigzags across the whole room, damaging anyone who gets hit. It will move in this manner three times before forming a single powerful beam in front of him.

Apart from this, he will also perform a Flying Claw Rake, where he strikes the ground while in the air to raise pools of lava. Finally, he will throw a Fireball at the ground after taking off, causing an explosion.

Demon in Pain

The Demon in Pain version of the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign has only two specific attacks. In one of his attacks, he will raise his arm and spawn two massive orbs of fire, which will shoot smaller fireballs in various directions.

For his second attack, he will rain fire by launching a stream of it in the air.

Beating the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign

Firstly, try to get the Demon in Pain version of the Demon Prince if possible. This is mostly because the Demon from Below version has more powerful AOE and aerial attacks, which are difficult to dodge, especially the Fire Beam.

Ad

A simple basic strategy is to get behind the Demon Prince and continue attacking him while he tries to claw down your teammates. One of your team members could act as bait while you deal damage from the back.

When the Demon Prince takes off into the air, get yourself to a safe zone, away from the AOE range. Watch out for his Successive Attacks. When he performs this strike, anybody behind him is completely safe. Take this opportunity to punish him.

Ad

If you have ranged weapons or playable characters who are proficient at ranged attacks, use them effectively when he flies upward for any attack. Furthermore, when he performs his raining fire move, the boss is essentially defenseless for a short duration. Close the distance and deal as much damage as possible before moving away to a safe distance.

In addition, ensure that you build up Fire Negation by using the appropriate relics and abilities before facing the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign. All the aforementioned Demon bosses are fire-based enemies, so it would be helpful to negate flame damage.

Ad

Overall, just stay away from his reach as he mostly performs melee attacks and punish him for poor mobility while staying nimble on your feet. Ranged attack prowess will prove to be a big plus while trying to defeat the Demon Prince in Elden Ring Nightreign.
