The Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior in Elden Ring Nightreign fight is one of the earliest reality checks introduced by The Forsaken Hollows DLC. As a dual Night Boss encounter that closes out Night 1 of the Balancers’ expedition, it tests positioning, awareness, and target priority more than raw damage.
At first glance the arena feels overwhelming, especially when the sky blacks out, but the fight is far more controlled than it looks once you understand how the two enemies behave. That said, here is how you unlock and defeat Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior in Elden Ring Nightreign.

For a fair difficulty curve, it’s recommended to fight them at Level 7, though experienced groups can challenge them earlier for a tougher run.

How to beat Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior in Elden Ring Nightreign
At its core, this fight works best when treated as two controlled duels instead of one chaotic brawl. In solo play, the bosses behave surprisingly cleanly. After dodging the opening lightning strike, pull away from the Divine Beast Warrior. Curseblade will follow you, effectively letting you split the encounter into two separate one-on-one fights. In co-op, coordination matters far more.

Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior in Elden Ring Nightreign have very different combat styles.
1) Curseblade is:
- Fast and aggressive
- Uses long-range slashing attacks
- Easier to kite but punishes hesitation
2) Divine Beast Warrior is:
- Slow but extremely heavy-hitting
- Tanky physical damage dealer
- Long attack chains with big recovery windows
A solid approach is to let ranged players pressure Curseblade, since it’s more agile and harder for melee characters to stick on. Assign melee players to Divine Beast Warrior, baiting attacks and punishing recovery frames. Both bosses overextend often, so patience wins this fight.
If Scholar is available, this fight becomes much safer. Communion (Ultimate Art) can link Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior, so they share incoming damage. On the other hand, Analyse (Character Skill) can:
- Debuff enemy damage
- Buff allied stamina
- Swing the fight quickly if used safely
Be careful, though, as Analyse leaves Scholar exposed, so only use it when enemies are mid-chain or repositioning. You can also check our guide on how to play him well.
Kill Curseblade first
The arena stays darkened as long as Curseblade is alive, which makes tracking both enemies harder. Lock-on helps, but visibility improves dramatically once Curseblade falls. Curseblade is also the weaker of the two, so focusing it early reduces pressure and clears the battlefield visually. Fire Pots deal decent damage and remain a good option against Curseblade.
Dodge first, punish second
Both enemies rely on long attack strings followed by noticeable recovery periods.
- Avoid the urge to trade hits
- Dodge through chains
- Counter only when the animation fully ends
The Divine Beast Warrior, in particular, is dangerous if rushed. Let it finish swinging, then strike its back or flanks before resetting spacing.
