Types of Hairdye you can use
Where Winds Meet uses item-based hair customization. That means you can’t freely recolor your hair without having the proper dye beforehand. The game features two specific Hairdye items, each controlling a different type of color palette:
1) Inkshade Hairdye
- Used for basic, dark, muted colors.
- Works for the Basic color slot and is the go-to option for simple, grounded looks.
- It is comparatively easy to get and each Inkshade Hairdye costs 5 Essence of Earth.
2) Timeless Hairdye
- Used for bright, bold, and advanced colors.
- Required for Gradient and Highlights customization, giving you the full spectrum.
- Much rarer and comes in stacks of five from Hairdye Giftboxes, which cost 1 Harmonic Core.
- Also obtainable through the WWM gacha banners, but with a lower drop rate than Inkshade.
If you want the flashy, saturated colors players often show off, you’ll need Timeless Hairdye and getting enough of it is the part that takes the most effort.

Important limitations to know
Hair color customization in Where Winds Meet isn’t completely open-ended, and there are a few restrictions players should be aware of:
- Not all hairstyles can be dyed. Many starter hairstyles do not support any color changes.
- Look for the multicolored icon. If it’s missing, the hairstyle cannot be customized.
- Hair color requires items. Unlike eyebrows or beard color which can be changed freely, hair requires Hairdye items to unlock the coloring function.
- Advanced colors cost rare materials. The brighter and more complex the shade, the more Timeless Hairdye you’ll need.
