What is a Trade Office in Europa Universalis 5, and how to build it

The Trade Office ensures the merchants of a country are able to establish profitable relations with foreign nations. While this is one of the many economy-centric buildings that are available in Europa Universalis 5, it should not be confused with the Trading Hub, which is a completely different building.

The Trade Office can be built from the Buildings tab under Production and can only be erected in foreign countries. There are also additional requirements to be met:

Costs 45 Ducats
Requires 100 Opinion from the foreign nation
Built in a coastline area in a city or town

Players can increase Opinion with a foreign nation by improving relations with them via positive diplomatic actions, using the Improve Opinions mechanic, and more. Only when all these requirements are met can players establish a Trade Office by selecting an eligible location, which will take a month to fully complete.
