4 Genshin Impact factions that deserve the next round of buffs after Hexerei

Since the release of Natlan, most fans would agree that Genshin Impact is facing a power-creep problem, thanks to extremely strong units like Mavuika, Skirk, and Escoffier. Fortunately, HoYoverse has plans to keep old units relevant by introducing faction buffs, and some of Mondstadt’s Hexenzirkel-associated characters are among the first ones to get buffed in Genshin Impact.

In the Version Luna III update, Genshin Impact introduced buffs for some of the oldest 5-star and 4-star characters like Venti, Albedo, Razor, Fischl, and more. While developers haven't announced upcoming characters to be buffed, we can definitely think of factions that have grown weak in the game's current modern meta. Here are some of the factions in Genshin Impact that I think need to be buffed next.

Factions that need a buff in Genshin Impact

1) Knights of Favonius

When Genshin Impact first announced buffs for Mondstadt characters, many fans were surprised to see some iconic characters missing, like Jean, Lisa, Noelle, and many more. Since nearly half of the Mondstadt cast already gained new powers through Hexerei buffs, the rest of the main cast can gain their power-ups through a faction buff for the Knights of Favonius.

Since Genshin Impact needs their character buffs to fit the game's lore and not just be an inexplicable buff, developers could introduce a series of quests where the Traveler goes through a training or sparring session with their friends at the Knights of Favonius. This buff could include the following characters:

• Varka
• Jean
• Eula
• Kaeya
• Lisa
• Amber
• Noelle
• Mika

2) Liyue’s Adepti

Over the years, Genshin Impact has introduced travelers to different adepti residing in Liyue and its nearby villages and towns. Some of Liyue’s adepti have always been popular among players, but unfortunately, power-creeping has significantly lowered their usage rates in endgame modes.

Given how important the adepti are in Liyue’s story, it would make sense for HoYoverse to keep them relevant by giving them buffs. An adepti-focused buff could improve the following characters:

• Zhongli
• Xiao
• Ganyu
• Qiqi
• Xianyun
• Shenhe
• Yanfei

3) Sumeru Akademiya

Sumeru’s main cast of characters had wonderful personalities and exciting kits, but over two years later, most of them seem to have been forgotten, except for the Dendro Archon. Being the biggest region in Teyvat, along with an intense and deep lore, Sumeru’s cast is definitely worthy of buffs and staying relevant.

A buff focused around Akademiya members might bring new passives and improvements to the following characters:

• Alhaitham
• Tighnari
• Cyno
• Nahida
• Wanderer
• Kaveh

4) Inazuma

The entire nation of Inazuma can be split into multiple factions, but one thing common among all Inazuman characters is how out of meta they are, with a few exceptions. Inazuma’s Archon is also left as a Hyperbloom activator in the current meta and gets overshadowed by a young girl from Natlan who is not even part of the Six Heroes.

Inazuma’s cast was filled with monstrous DPS units and only a few supports. It has already been mentioned in event quests that Inazuma’s Archon wants to prepare for an upcoming war, and that could be the perfect gateway to introduce character buffs for the following characters:

• Raiden Shogun
• Yae Miko
• Kamisato Ayaka
• Kamisato Ayato
• Yoimiya
• Arataki Itto
• Kaedahara Kazuha

With buffs to older 5-star characters, HoYoverse will give players a reason to keep playing their favorites and even pull for older characters in rerun banners and patch updates with no new character releases.
