Genshin Impact Durin voicelines about other characters

Durin is a new 5-star Pyro character who was recently released with the Phase I banners in Genshin Impact Luna III. He is a versatile unit who can fit in multiple team compositions. Similar to other units in the title, he has many voice-overs about various characters.

However, to unlock some of the voice-overs, you must complete Durin's Story Quest. Furthermore, you have to reach Friendship level four to unlock most voicelines.

Durin's voicelines about Alice, Andersdotter, Nilou, Varka, Wanderer, and other characters in Genshin Impact

About Mother (Andersdotter)

"Ever since taking up Mother's pen, I've diligently committed each day's stories to paper. Klee taught me how to fish, which ended with us locked in solitary confinement. Albedo had me help him boil water, which almost ended in the kettle turning to ash. A little boy outside the city gate showed me how to feed the pigeons, and one of them decided to perch on my horns. I'll continue to fill the pages of my book, and maybe, when I'm turning the pages one day, I'll hear a familiar voice quietly narrating, 'This is a wonderful story indeed'."

From Durin's promotional content, it was evident that he did not consider Rhinedottir as his mother. Instead, he considers Anya M. Andersdotter, a witch also known by her codename M, as his mother. During the Simulanka event, we learnt that M created the fictional character Durin, so he considers Andersdotter as his birth mother.

Durin seems to love his mother a lot, and he keeps sending her letters about his daily activities. Even though Andersdotter passed away before the game's events, he still thinks that his mother will find a way to read his letters.

About Alice

"Aunt Alice asked me to spend more time with Klee. She said she'd reward me by giving me anything I wanted. But only children want rewards, and I'm clearly all grown up... I like playing with Klee because I'm happy when we spend time together — it's as simple as that. When I told Aunt Alice that, though, she was overjoyed, and said she'd pick out a 'giant toy' just for me..."

Judging by this voice-over, it seems that Alice considers Durin's age to be similar to that of her daughter, Klee. Durin reveals that he loves playing with Klee and that Alice has a huge surprise planned for him.

About Albedo

Durin considers Albedo to be his close family, and he also has two voicelines about his brother.

Family

"Albedo has shared so many of his experiences with me regarding becoming truly human. He's explained many of the problems that humans face — things like work, ideals, life... Some of these things are too difficult for me to understand — some are too difficult for me even to imagine. Albedo says I can slowly learn about these problems as I experience them, before making my own choices. Family is the only thing that a human can't choose. I know my family is complicated and highly unusual, but with Albedo as my brother, I'm filled with a sense of peace and belonging. In that sense, my family is no different from most."

Durin thanks Albedo for teaching him everything he needed to know to become a human. He states that he still doesn't understand many things, but is still trying to learn everything that Albedo is teaching him. Durin also considers Albedo his brother and a close family member.

Sense

"Albedo is the perfect 'human.'He knows so much and is always able to handle everything he faces. He's sincere and friendly to those around him. But sometimes, I feel like there's another side to him, one no one would expect. Like how he takes decisive measures to achieve his aims... I don't know where this uncanny intuition comes from — perhaps it's a sort of resonance between beings who share a 'species'?"

Durin applauds Albedo for being a perfect human being, as his brother blends in well with the human society. He also mentions that his brother is knowledgeable about many aspects of human life. Durin also adds that he sees a special intuitive side of Albedo that no one else expects him to have.

About Wanderer

Wanderer is one of the characters who wanted to save Durin in Simulanka. After rescuing the dragon from Simulanka, he brought Mini-Durin to Teyvat. Durin also appreciates the help Wanderer gave him and considers the latter his close friend. Due to these events, Durin has two different voicelines about his friend.

Friends

"Shortly after leaving Simulanka, I followed Hat Guy to Sumeru. The Akademiya was so big and so beautiful — and there were so many books. It's only now that I'm learning to read and write that I suddenly understand how stressful it must be studying there. Not that there weren't times when people had time off and came to Hat Guy to play cards, chat, or even share delicious food. Like the one with the large ears, or the one with the hat that had even larger ears, or the one who looked like a small wolfhound... I've asked Hat Guy if they're his friends. He always complains about how noisy they are, but he's never denied their friendship."

Durin recalls the time he spent in Sumeru alongside the Wanderer. He talks about the Sumeru Akademiya and mentions some experiences with Wanderer's friends: Cyno, Tighnari, and Sethos. He also states that Wanderer never denies that these characters are his friends, even if he keeps complaining about them all the time.

Resolution

"We share some similarities, he and I — he always seems to know what I'm thinking, and then guides me as someone who's 'already seen it all.' Whenever I tell people, 'Don't get too close,' I really want them to resolutely refuse... That's what Hat Guy does. So even when he says he wants to be alone, even if he deliberately tries to discourage me, I always stick by his side."

Durin explains another one of Wanderer's personality traits through this voice-over. He says he would never leave Wanderer's side, even if the latter says he wants to be alone.

About Nilou

"When I was in Sumeru, I took the time to visit Fairy Nilou— Sorry, force of habit — I should call her Miss Nilou in this world. I watched her dancing at the Grand Bazaar, and she was as beautiful as a fairy."

Nilou is another character who helped Durin from his fate in Simulanka. He cares about her and recalls a time when he went to watch one of her performances.

About Navia

"If I get the chance, I'd like to thank the King of Constellation Metropole— Uhm, I mean to say, Miss Navia. I wonder if she'll be shocked to see what I look like now? ... You don't think she'll mind? That's great news!"

Navia had also helped Durin during the events of Simulanka. He shows his gratitude and says he would like to thank her personally sometime later when he meets her.

About Kirara

"If all the kitties in The Cat's Tail were like Kirara, I don't think they'd get so nervous when they see me..."

In one of the promotional videos for Durin, we learnt that some of the cats at The Cat's Tail shop do not like him. He also recalls his meeting with Kirara and mentions that she wasn't afraid of his appearance.

About Venti

"The young bard gently plucked his strings, a voice as clear as a mountain stream. It was no battle hymn nor prayer, but the murmuring of stars, the wind blowing through the trees. The dragon's eyelids faintly twitched, flames gently crackling in its throat." One night, when I couldn't sleep, I took a stroll in the wilds. I met Lord Barbatos doing likewise. He sang this song for me, and I liked it so much, I made sure to learn it...

Durin recalls one of his encounters with Venti, when the latter prepared a short song for Durin. He states that he loves that so much that he memorized it, and he also mentions this song in his voice-over about Venti.

About Lisa

"After Miss Lisa sets homework for me, she makes me sit at my desk to complete it. One time, when I was exhausted, I stood my book up on my desk so it blocked her view and tried to nap in secret. When I woke up, she was standing there smiling. It scared me stiff. But before I could finish apologizing, she praised me for learning the most valuable lesson... I think she was talking about my willingness to acknowledge my mistakes. Oh, so you don't think that's what she meant?"

In this voice-over, Albedo says Lisa is like a teacher to him, regularly assigning homework. He also recalls an incident in which he tried to sleep secretly, but was ultimately caught by Lisa. Although he apologized to her for trying to nap in secret, it seems that he still couldn't understand why Lisa laughed at him during the incident.

About Klee

"Albedo once told me he treats Klee like a little sister. Klee likes to call me Big Brother Durin, too. I guess I am technically her big brother, though I haven't been human for very long — if we're talking about human age, is she really my *little* sister? Hmm..."

Judging by this voiceline, it seems that Durin most likely considers Klee as his little sister, because she considers him as a Big Brother. However, since Durin recently turned human with Albedo's help, he wonders whether he can really consider Klee his little sister, given their ages.

About Fischl

"I can't help but wonder... Back in Simulanka, I felt like she was different from the others. Is she the same as me — did she come out of a book, too?"

Based on this voice-over, it appears that Durin cannot understand Fischl's speech and wonders if she came out of a book, just like him.

About Diona

"In fairy tales, anyone who can mix potions that befuddle the heart and mind and command the obedience of cats is almost certainly a powerful witch."

Since Durin didn't have a pleasant encounter with cats at the Cat's Tail, he considers Diona to be a witch, since all the cats in this Tavern listen to her.

About Varka

"Grand Master Varka is different from most of Mondstadt's knights. He's powerful but not imposing — he leaves people feeling calm and safe. He's the sort of knight who can crack a joke while fighting off the Wild Hunt — although most of his jokes go way over my horns... You want to know about ones I did understand? Well, I didn't hear them clearly either, probably because he often slurs his words after drinking..."

Durin commends Varka's strength and mentions that the Grand Master is powerful and is unlike any other Mondstadt knight that he has ever met. He also mentions that he does not understand Varka's jokes. He also says Varka always slurs his words after drinking.
