Durin C1 vs R1 in Genshin Impact: Which one should you get?

Durin in Genshin Impact is a new 5-star character. He is a solid off-field Pyro unit, and a lot of players pulling for him might be debating between his C1 and R1 since they're both pretty good. However, due to limited resources to pull on Durin's banner, most F2P can only get one of the two.

Durin's first Constellation is called Adamah's Redemption, and after unlocking it, his Elemental Burst gains additional effects depending on his form, which are as follows:

• Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts:- All other nearby party members gain 20 stacks of Cycle of Enlightenment lasting 20s. When nearby active characters deal Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst DMG, 1 stack of Cycle of Enlightenment will be consumed to increase the DMG dealt by 60% of Durin's ATK. Stack counts for characters in the party who have Cycle of Enlightenment are managed individually.
• Principle of Darkness: As the Stars Smolder:- Durin gains 20 stacks of Cycle of Enlightenment lasting 20s. When Durin deals Elemental Burst DMG, 2 stacks of Cycle of Enlightenment will be consumed to increase the DMG dealt by 150% of Durin's ATK.
• When an Elemental Burst is used, Cycle of Enlightenment stacks will be refreshed.

In the white form, casting Durin's Elemental Burst increases the DMG dealt by his party members based on his ATK. Meanwhile, in the black form, Durin buffs his own DMG, which is also based on his ATK.

Durin's signature weapon is called Athame Artis, and it has the following stats and effects at level 90 R1 in Genshin Impact:

• Base ATK: 608
• Second stat: 33.1% CRIT Rate
• Passive effect: CRIT DMG from Elemental Bursts is increased by 16%. When an Elemental Burst hits an opponent, gain the Blade of the Daylight Hours effect: ATK is increased by 20%. Nearby active party members other than the equipping character have their ATK increased by 16% for 3s. Additionally, when the party possesses Hexerei: Secret Rite effects, the effects of Blade of the Daylight Hours are increased by an additional 75%. This effect can be triggered even if the equipping character is off-field.

Athame Artis boosts Durin's CRIT Rate and Elemental Burst CRIT DMG. Additionally, it increases the active unit's ATK. The ATK bonus will be higher if the Hexerei effect is active.

Durin's C1 vs R1: Which is better?

Durin's C1 is much better than his signature weapon at R1 since it provides direct buffs to the team and himself. Although the CRIT stats on his Athame Artis are appealing, you can make up for them using other weapons or artifacts. Furthermore, the weapon's passive also relies on the Hexerei effect, making it slightly restrictive.
