Assassin's Creed Mirage Valley of Memory walkthrough: How to complete The Heart of Corruption quest

The Heart of Corruption is the third main quest in the Assassin's Creed Mirage Valley of Memory expansion. It starts after Basim gets captured at the end of the Wares and Shadows quest, and its main objective is to escape the prison. However, as the enemy is strong and resources are limited there, things can get dire while trying to leave.

Here are the details on how to complete The Heart of Corruption quest in Assassin's Creed Mirage Valley of Memory.

Gather information from the prison cell

After finding yourself inside the prison, you have to stay patient and perform a series of tasks to escape the prison. Firstly, listen to the guards' conversation until the end, and then you will hear the neighboring prisoner calling for you. Check the right side wall and select the prompt "Listen" to talk to him.

Next, wait for a bit, and a servant and a guard will come to serve you food. Following that, get some sleep by interacting with the mattress on the cell floor.

After waking up, the neighboring prisoner will reveal the possible location of Basim's father. Then, wait for the guards' conversation and inspect the following elements in the cell:

Inspect the food in front of the cell door.
Inspect the scratch marks on the left wall.
Inspect the bloodstains on the corner.

Subsequently, choose the "Listen" prompt near the cell window at the back to eavesdrop on the guards' conversation. When the next cutscene ends, wait for Basim's dialogue, and go to sleep again.

When you wake up, the next part of the mission will depend on your previous action in the Valley of Memory story. If you saved Hind's maid during The Ones Who Remain quest, the maid will appear as the cook of the prison and come for your help. Speak to her to get assistance later in the mission.

Get the cell key

If you didn't save the maid earlier, you can skip to this part, where you have to acquire the cell's key through Enkidu's help. Go near the window and select "Watch" to switch to Enkidu's point of view.

Next, proceed forward towards the prison and approach Basim's cell window, shown in the image above.

Now, check the rooftop to find a guard carrying the cell key. However, you have to wait for him to put the key on the table. When that happens, fly on top of that area to trigger a cutscene, where Enkidu will steal the key. Return to Basim's cell window to obtain the key.

Escape the cell and kill 'Abis

Next, pick up the key from the ground and use it to open the cell door. If you get Hind's maid's assistance, the guard in the south will be asleep. Otherwise, defeat him to get two weapons and the Death Row key.

Note: If Hind's maid helps you, most of the guards around the prison will stay asleep, and their location will be revealed. You can also unlock the other cells to help others escape, which will cause chaos throughout the prison and facilitate your own escape.

Now, proceed north, defeat the single guard there, and open the door using the Death Row key.

Continue forward and defeat two more guards in the next area. However, as the main door is barred from the other side, go through the window on the western wall.

From there, take the left pathway and eliminate a few guards in front of the door. However, this door also needs a specific key to unlock. To get the key, go downstairs, kill the guards, and collect the door key hanging on the light post.

Afterwards, return to the locked door upstairs, unlock it using the key, and enter. Then, go through the door in the north, crawl through the hole in the wall, and use the wooden ladder to ascend.

As you reach the open area, catch the hanging hook on the east, and use the subsequent ledges and platforms to continue forward.

At the end of it, defeat a guard and interact with the marker to discover a clue and get two Blowdarts. Next, open the door, proceed forward, and take out the remaining guards one by one.

When done, take the stairs in the north to reach the next floor and eliminate the enemies there as well.

When all of them are dead, go through the southern door to find 'Abis. During the cutscene, select "Assassinate" to kill him; however, you will get poisoned during the sequence.

Survive the poison and escape the prison

As you're poisoned following the encounter with 'Abis, your health bar will be diminished over time. Then, proceed forward after the cutscene ends, go up the stairs, and eat the food there to regain health. You must find and eat food along the way to survive and escape simultaneously.

Exit through the door in the south, run past the enemies, go down the stairs, and perform a leap of faith to the bottom. Next, follow the floating objects, eat the food along the way, and exit AlUla town.

When outside, eat the berries from the bushes to stay alive. After continuing towards the east via the road for a while, a cutscene will trigger, and in the end, Dervis will come to rescue.

With this, The Heart of Corruption quest in Assassin's Creed Mirage Valley of Memory comes to an end. You can then pursue the next quest in the story, House of Memories.
