Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is the latest in the Nintendo and Koei Tecmo Musou crossover series, with a fresh set of characters to play as this time. This makes sense as this new entry is based on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and is canonically related to the critically acclaimed 2023 open-world action-adventure game.

1) Zelda, Princess of Hyrule

  • How to unlock: Available from Chapter 1 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

A Hyrulean princess from the distant future. She hones her powers over time and light in search of a way home while working tirelessly to aid her kingdom's ancient founders.


2) Rauru, King of Hyrule

  • How to unlock: Available from Chapter 1 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

The first king of Hyrule and one of the last surviving Zonai. He wields the power of light and a secret stone borne by his people when they descended from the heavens long ago.

3) Mineru, Sister to the King of Hyrule

  • How to unlock: Available from Chapter 1 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

Rauru's elder sister and an expert on the Zonai. She is often found researching constructs and other technological wonders in her study. She possesses a secret stone and the unique ability to separate her spirit from her body.


4) Camalo, Traveling Korok

  • How to unlock: Available from Chapter 1 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

A boisterous Korok roaming Hyrule with his construct companion in search of a place to put down roots. He was allegedly something of a celebrity among the other Koroks back in Great Hyrule Forest.


5) Mysterious Construct, The Korok's Companion

  • How to unlock: At the end of Chapter 2 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

A construct found and awakened in the Depths by Calamo. Able to transform and take to the skies, it travels across Hyrule as the feisty Korok's loyal companion.

6) Typhan, Hylian Warrior

  • How to unlock: At the end of Chapter 2 in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

A veteran soldier sworn to defend the royal family. Deeply moved by Rauru and Sonia's devotion to the people of Hyrule, he was among the first to enlist as a protector of their fledgling kingdom.


7) Qia, Queen of the Zora

  • How to unlock: Unlocked during Chapter 3 mission "Lanayru Defiled"

The new Zora queen and a skilled fighter whose courage and valor inspire her people. She inherited the throne earlier than planned in the wake of her father's untimely death in battle.

8) Agraston, Goron Chief

  • How to unlock: Unlocked during Chapter 3 mission "Crisis on Death Mountain"

The worldly chief of the Gorons of Death Mountain and a longtime friend to Rauru. Though calm and intellectual, he will readily fight tooth and nail for his companions.


9) Raphica, Rito Elder

  • How to unlock: Unlocked during Chapter 3 mission "Shadows in the Snow"

The quick-witted leader of the Rito. Despite his aloof demeanor, he is a considerate and steadfast ally who joined forces with Calamo to combat the monster menace.

10) Ardi, Gerudo Chief

  • How to unlock: Unlocked during Chapter 4 mission "Terror of the Sands"

The compassionate chief of the Gerudo. Though she was once bound by Gerudo law to serve Ganondorf, she has since been chosen to lead her people in the wake of the Demon King's ascension.


11) Quino, Hylian Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "For Hyrule" side quest in Chapter 3

A young man whose innate sense of justice drove him to serve his kingdom as a soldier. Raised a well-bred noble, he is optimistic and diligent, although his youthful inexperience occasionally shows through.

12) Cadlan, Zona Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "The Strength to Protect" side quest in Chapter 4

A young Zora soldier with a good and honest heart. He has great respect for Qia, fighting valiantly in pursuit of the strength he needs to one day serve among her personal guard.


13) Lago, Zora Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "A Veteran's Return" side quest in Chapter 3

A Zora warrior who served the late king as a bodyguard. After losing his liege and many trusted allies in battle, he decided to lay down his sword, but has since overcome his grief to return to the battlefield.

14) Pastos, Goron Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "A Lone Wolf's Pride" side quest in Chapter 3

The leader of a faction of Gorons opposed to an alliance with Hyrule. Though he and Chief Agraston never see eye to eye, he has decided to set aside their differences in light of the danger looming over the entire continent.


15) Braton, Goron Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "The Gourmand Goron" side quest in Chapter 3

A young Goron and enthusiastic gourmand of any rock the world has to offer. His decision to leave Death Mountain and fight in defense of Hyrule was, in truth, motivated by a desire to sample rocks from every corner of the continent.


16) Vence, Rito Warrior

  • How to unlock: Unlocked during Chapter 3 mission "Shadows in the Snow" in Chapter 3

A Rito warrior and one of Raphica's oldest friends. Though he is often quick with a joke, he is in fact deeply concerned about the burdens of leadership his dear friend now bears.

17) Pinnec, Rito Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "The Unsung Spearman" side quest in Chapter 4

A battle-hardened Rito veteran who once regarded Raphica with contempt. Over time, however, he has come to respect the young elder, and is now one of his most ardent - and senior - supporters.


18) Sholani, Gerudo Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "Standing on Principle" side quest in Chapter 4

A Gerudo warrior born into the same tribe as Ardi. Beneath her calm and capable exterior, her heart smolders with adoration for her longtime friend. To protect those she holds dear, she turned to Rauru for aid without consulting the rest of her tribe.

19) Ronza, Gerudo Warrior

  • How to unlock: Complete the "In Search of Power" side quest in Chapter 4

The leader of an independent faction of the Gerudo. After Ganondorf became the Demon King and abandoned his people, she resolved to grow stronger and fight to restore the Gerudo's honor.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
