The first-ever mega auction of the Women's Premier League (WPL) concluded on Thursday, November 27, ahead of the 2026 season. All franchises had to rebuild their teams after having made their retentions ahead of the auction.

The five franchises splurged large amounts on marquee players. The likes of Deepti Sharma, Amelia Kerr, and Sophie Devine were among those who secured the highest bids at the WPL 2026 auction.

However, there was a long list of players who did not find any bidders. The list included big names like Alyssa Healy, Heather Knight, and Chamari Athapaththu, among others.

The WPL 2026 season is set to begin on January 9, 2026. The final will be played on February 5, with Navi Mumbai and Vadodara declared as the two venues for the tournament. Mumbai Indians (MI) are the defending champions.

On that note, let us take a look at the unsold playing XI from the WPL 2026 auction.

Top Order: Alyssa Healy (C & WK), Sabbineni Meghana, and Vrinda Dinesh

Legendary Australian skipper Alyssa Healy, who was released by the UP Warriorz (UPW) after WPL 2025, surprisingly did not find a single bidder even at her base price of ₹50 Lakh. The wicketkeeper-batter had a strong showing at the World Cup 2025, scoring 299 runs from five matches at an average of 74.75 with two hundreds to her name. Given her experience, she will not only don the gloves but also lead this combined XI.

Right-handed batter Sabbhineni Meghana will partner Healy at the top. She has a decent record in the WPL, having scored 302 runs in 14 innings at a strike-rate of 118.43. She played just two games last season and scored 53 runs at a strike-rate of 212.

24-year-old Vrinda Dinesh would slot in at number three in this XI. She did not have a great season last year, scoring just 102 runs in nine innings. However, she comes in with immense potential.

Middle Order: Alice Capsey, Uma Chetry, Laura Harris

England all-rounder Alice Capsey was also among those who surprisingly did not get a bid at the WPL 2026 auction. Capsey brings a solid balance to the unit with her ability to contribute with both bat and ball. In the ongoing Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2025-26, she has scored 133 runs from seven innings at a strike-rate of 131.68 and has bagged 10 wickets at an average of 9.10 and an economy of 6.50.

Young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry did not find a franchise either. She played a couple of decent knocks in the World Cup 2025 Warm-up matches and could be a handy option in the line-up.

Australia batter Laura Harris did not find a team in the WPL for the third consecutive year. She brings immense experience, having played 129 games in the WBBL so far, scoring 1305 runs at a strike-rate of 159.73. Laura can be explosive inclusion down the order when at her best with the bat.

Lower Order: Sayali Satghare, Alana King, Shabnam Shakil, Priya Mishra, Parunika Sisodia

India pacer Sayali Satghare was released by the Gujarat Giants (GG) after WPL 2025 and failed to find a franchise this time around. She played the World Cup 2025 Warm-up game against New Zealand and impressed, returning figures of 3/45.

Australia leg-spinner Alana King was ignored by the franchises despite her impressive showing at the World Cup 2025 in India. She bagged 13 wickets from seven games at an average of 17.38 and an economy of 4.03. Alana is a genuine wicket-taker with 128 scalps from as many games in the WBBL. Moreover, she is also a handy batter down the order, having scored 646 runs.

Young India pacer Shabnam Shakil has been part of two U-19 World Cup-winning teams. She bowled a crucial spell in the 2024/2025 edition, returning figures of 1/7 from two overs. Priya Mishra, another rising star in Indian cricket, found no bidders at the WPL 2026 auction. The leg-spinner has played nine ODIs, picking up 15 wickets at an average of 26.60 and an economy of 5.89.

Young left-arm spinner Parunika Sisodia showcased her talent at the U-19 World Cup 2024/25. She picked up 10 wickets from seven games. This included figures of 3/21 in the semifinal against England and 2/6 in the final against South Africa.
