Team India stars Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed brilliant hundreds in the second ODI against South Africa on December 3 in Raipur. The Men in Blue got to a solid total of 358/5 from their 50 overs after batting first.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was the first one to reach the three-figure mark. It was his maiden ODI hundred. Gaikwad scored 105 runs off just 83 balls at a strike-rate of 126.51. His knock included 12 fours and two maximums.
Virat Kohli also got to his hundred later on. It was his 53rd ODI ton and 84th century overall. Moreover, he struck back-to-back tons, having scored one in the first ODI as well. Kohli made 102 runs off 93 balls, including seven boundaries and two sixes at a strike-rate of 109.68.

Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad struck a record partnership while they batted together. Gaikwad joined Kohli at the crease after the second wicket fell. The duo added 195 runs for the third wicket off just 156 balls. Gaikwad contributed 105 runs to the partnership while Kohli contributed 83.
This was the highest partnership for India against South Africa in an ODI for any wicket, going past the previous best of 194 by Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik in Gwalior in 2010.
#4 Second-fastest ODI hundred for India against South Africa
Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed the second-fastest ODI hundred for India against South Africa. He got to his century off just 77 balls. On the fourth ball of the 34th over, he hit Corbin Bosch for a boundary to get to the landmark.
Gaikwad is only behind former all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, who holds the record for the fastest ODI hundred for an Indian against South Africa. Yusuf had slammed a 68-ball hundred in Centurion in 2011.
#3 Most 50-plus scores for India against South Africa in all formats
In the process of scoring his hundred, Virat Kohli registered his 26th 50-plus score against South Africa for India across all formats. With this, he broke the record for the most 50-plus scores for India against the Proteas across all formats.
With his century in the previous game, he had gotten on par with Sachin Tendulkar. However, he now surpassed Tendulkar, who has 25 50-plus scores against the Proteas in all formats. Rahul Dravid is third on the list with 21 such scores.
#2 Joint-most venues to score ODI hundreds
Raipur was the 34th different venue where Virat Kohli scored an ODI hundred. With this, he levelled a unique record of the batter with ODI tons at most distinct venues. Kohli is now on par with Sachin Tendulkar (34 venues).
Rohit Sharma (26), Hashim Amla (21), and AB de Villiers (21) are the other prominent players behind Kohli and Tendulkar on this list.
#1 Joint-most hundreds by a batter against South Africa across formats
Virat Kohli's century was his 10th against South Africa across formats. With this, he became the batter with the joint-most hundreds against South Africa across all formats combined. He joined Ricky Ponting, David Warner, and Kane Williamson on the list, who have 10 hundreds each.
Kohli has three Test hundreds against the Proteas and seven hundreds in ODI cricket. He also became the third batter in ODI cricket to slam 10 or more centuries in two separate decades, joining Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.
