Round 5 of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy began on November 16, 2025, proving to be an opportunity for sides to give it their all before the competition takes a hiatus. According to the new schedule that was adopted last year, the latter stages of the group stage and the knockout matches of the domestic red-ball tournament will take place early next year.
As a result, the next couple of months will be devoted to the white-ball tournaments, namely the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the final round before the break, heavyweights like Mumbai, Karnataka, Vidarbha, and Saurashtra enjoyed dominant wins, while others like Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi finished with a drawn result. Jammu and Kashmir continue their inspiring run with yet another win that places them second in the Elite Group D, narrowly behind Mumbai.
On that note, let us take a look at the top five performers in Round 5 of Ranji Trophy 2025-26.
#1 Rinku Singh
The left-handed batter had to largely settle for a place on the sidelines in the 2025 Asia Cup and the Australia tour assignments, but has been showcasing a rich vein of form in the domestic circuit. After slamming an unbeaten 165 in the clash against Andhra, he has followed it up with yet another daddy hundred.
Rinku Singh scored 176 runs off 247 deliveries to dominate the show as rest of his teammates struggled in Coimbatore. While only two of his teammates crossed the 50-run mark, he ended up being the top scorer by a significant margin, helping Uttar Pradesh post 460 on the board, giving them a precious and slender five-run lead in the process, as the match eventually ended in a tame draw.
#2 Smaran Ravichandran
The Karnataka batter is now the fifth-leading scorer of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy campaign, courtesy of his second double hundred of the season. He now holds an astronomical average of 119 as he has remained unbeaten on both occasions he has scored a double century.
After an unbeaten 220 in the clash against Kerala earlier this month, he has followed up with an unbeaten 227 against Chandigarh in Karnataka's mammoth win by an innings and 185 runs. Coming into bat at 64-3, he played the entirety of the innings, before the team declared on 547-8 in the first innings.
#3 Shreyas Gopal
While Karnataka had a lucrative cushion of a mammoth first innings total, the veteran wrist spinner ran the show with the ball. He actually had a say with the bat as well, after scoring 62 runs, his fourth fifty of the Ranji campaign so far. The lower-order player put on 141 runs for the fifth wicket with Smaran Ravichandran.
Shortly after being retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction, Gopal proved his worth by picking up a 10-wicket haul, his second of the season. He picked up figures of 7-73 in the first innings, and 3-45 the second time around.
#4 Shahbaz Ahmed
The Bengal all-rounder is having a season and a half, with both bat and ball to play a crucial role in the domestic side's near-perfect start in Elite Group C. After a match-winning display against Railways, which included a fifty and seven wickets, he starred once again to record his second first-class hundred in the draw against Assam.
Featuring at No.5 this time around, Shahbaz scored a well-compiled 101 off 122 deliveries at a strike rate of 82.78 to help Bengal amass a huge first innings lead. While he went wicket-less in the first innings, he was the pick of the bowlers in the second innings, with figures of 4-57.
#5 Abhishek Reddy
The 31-year-old batter ended a ten-year wait for a maiden first-class hundred to mark a memorable moment in his career. After making his debut for Karnataka in the 2015 Irani Cup, he struggled to make a consistent impression and switched sides to Andhra eventually.
He had recorded 10 first-class fifties in 25 appearances, including consecutive ones in the recent Ranji Trophy rounds, but could not hit the elusive three-figure mark. However, he finally breached the milestone in the clash against Jharkhand, and he made the most of it by converting it into a mighty score.
Reddy slammed 247 runs off 348 deliveries to help Andhra post a dominant 567-6 in reply to the opposition's 328 in Jamshedpur. The Andrhra bowlers made easy work of Jharkhand in the second innings, bowling them out for 158 to record a win by an innings and 81 runs.
