The fourth round of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy kick-started on Saturday, November 8, as the season found its groove after the opening set of clashes in the first three rounds. Heavyweights like Mumbai, Punjab, Vidarbha, and Bengal enjoyed dominant and clinical wins, while Karnataka had to settle for a draw.
The alarming result of the round was unquestionably Delhi's loss to Jammu and Kashmir at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Paras Dogra-led side continues to grow in stature after their inspiring run in the previous campaign, while Delhi's struggle to get their affairs in order continues.
On that note, let us take a look at the top five performers in Round 4 of Ranji Trophy 2025-26.
#1 Akash Choudhary
The Meghalaya player became an overnight sensation after smashing eight sixes in a row, including six sixes in an over to record the fastest first-class fifty, of just 11 deliveries. Choudhary scored an unbeaten 50 off just 14 deliveries to help his side post a mammoth 628-6 in the first innings against Arunachal Pradesh.
The bowlers made easy work of the 20 wickets to bowl out the opposition for 73 and 109 in the first and the second innings respectively, to record a massive win by an innings and 446 runs.
#2 MD Nidheesh
The Kerala pacer bagged a ten-wicket haul in the clash against Saurashtra. He ran through the batting order in the first innings to pick up stunning figures of 6-20 off 14 overs to bowl out the opposition for just 160.
In the second innings, he starred to be the pick of the bowlers yet again, bagging figures of 4-83, and completed his ten-fer. This marks the second time he has picked up ten wickets in a first-class game.
#3 Kumar Kushagra
The young wicket-keeper from Jharkhand had not started the Ranji campaign on a bright note, recording only one fifty across the first three matches. However, he was the star of the show in the drawn encounter against Baroda in Vadodara.
Batting at No.3, Kushagra scored almost half of his team's total in the first innings with his brilliant 234 off 367 deliveries. His knock propelled the score to 506, while in the second inning, he chipped in with 33 runs, before the contest was adjudged a draw.
#4 Mayank Agarwal
Leading the Karnataka side, the opening batter made a huge statement with his twin knocks in the drawn encounter against Maharashtra in Pune. Agarwal was the top scorer for the team in both innings, which included a resilient ton in the second innings.
The knocks come at a great time for the experienced batter, as he had a poor start to the season, recording only one fifty in his first four innings, which includes two outings where he failed to record double figures.
#5 Shivam Mavi
The former U-19 star has had a difficult time with injuries over the last years, but he made his mark in the Ranji Trophy clash between Uttar Pradesh and Nagaland. After entering the season on the back of a stellar UP Premier League for the Kashi Rudras, he had a few decent outings, before going all out in the Ranji Trophy Round 4 encounter.
He showcased his potential as an all-rounder after smashing an unbeaten 101 off 87 deliveries in the first innings to steer the score to 535-6. He then shone with the ball as well, picking a five-wicket haul, his first across formats since the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Mizoram in late 2024.
Mavi was not among the wickets in the second innings, but Nagaland were bundled out for just 153, earning Uttar Pradesh a win by an innings and 265 runs.
