Team India's ODI captain Shubman Gill registered underwhelming returns with the bat in the three-match one-day series in Australia that concluded recently. Having replaced Rohit Sharma as the new captain in the 50-over format, they were high expectations from him. The batter, however, only managed scores of 10, nine and 24 in the three-game series that India lost 2-1.

Gill will be keen to come up with a much better performance with the willow in five-match T20I series Down Under, which will be played from October 29 to November 8. In Team India's previous T20I assignment (Asia Cup 2025) as well, he did not have a great time. In seven innings, he scored 127 runs, with a best of 47.

In this feature, we compare Gill's stats with that of Australia captain Mitchell Marsh while opening in T20Is. Since Marsh has opened the batting in 12 T20I games so far, we compare his stats with that of Gill after the Indian star had also opened the batting in 12 T20I matches.
