Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an impressive hundred at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3 in the second ODI of the three-match series against South Africa. His knock, however, went in vain as the Proteas won the high-scoring contest by four wickets.

Sent into bat after losing yet another toss, the Men in Blue posted 358-5 on the board in their 50 overs. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma fell cheaply, but Gaikwad (105 off 83) and Virat Kohli (102 off 93) featured in a 195-run stand to lift India. Aiden Markram (110 off 98), Matthew Breetzke (68 off 64) and Dewald Brevis (54 off 34), however, lifted the visitors to a famous win.

The knock featured 12 fours and two sixes. Before that, the CSK star had scored 71 off 77 balls against Australia in Mohali in September 2023.
