Australia legend Matthew Hayden's daughter Grace reacted hilariously after Joe Root broke his long-standing centry drought Down Under in the second Ashes 2025-26 Test in Brisbane. Grace, who also works as a TV presenter, shared an Instagram story thanking the England star.

The message from Grace was in reference to her father's claim made in September 2025 of walking around the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) nude if Root failed to score a century in the 2025/26 Ashes. The Yorkshire batter is the fulcrum of England's batting order and was in focus due to his failure to score a ton in Australia in three Ashes tours.

The former England skipper broke that drought on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test in Brisbane, reaching the triple-figure mark off 181 deliveries.

The 34-year-old ended the day unbeaten on 135 to help the tourists finish with an imposing 325/9 in 74 overs.

In a video shared by England cricket's official social media handle, Hayden, who played 103 Tests for Australia, said he was backing Root to get to the three-figure mark. He said:

"Congratulations on a hundred here in Australia mate. Took you a while and there was no one that had more skin in the game than me, literally. I was backing you for a hundred in a good way. Congratulations, 10 fifties and finally a hundred. You little ripper mate, have a beauty and enjoy it."

The toss had gone in favour of England captain Ben Stokes, who opted to bat first in Brisbane. While Root was the standout performer, Zak Crawley also struck form with 76 and added 117 with the former skipper. The visitors are currently 0-1 down in the five-Test series.
