Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri warned Australia of Abhishek Sharma, should the youngster bat for any length of time in the upcoming T20I series. The top two T20I sides in the world will battle over five games, starting in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29.Abhishek has been in red-hot form in T20Is, coming off a Player of the Tournament performance in India's most recent 2025 Asia Cup triumph. On less-than-ideal batting tracks in the UAE, the 25-year-old scored 314 runs at an average of almost 45 and a strike rate of 200 in seven games.Talking about what Australian crowds and the Aussie side can expect from Abhishek Sharma during the upcoming T20I series, Shastri told Fox Cricket:"He’s a gun T20 player. If he’s in for a while, there’s guaranteed entertainment. Irrespective of whether you’re Australian or Indian, you’ll enjoy it. He has the ability to take the game away from you. You don’t want him out there too long because he can create chaos."Abhishek is already one of only six Indian batters to score multiple T20I centuries in just 24 outings. The southpaw also holds the record for the second-fastest T20I ton by an Indian batter, coming off 37 deliveries against England earlier this year."From the get-go, he’ll go after the bowling" - Ravi ShastriRavi Shastri believes the ability to go after the bowling from the outset makes Abhishek Sharma one of the most dangerous prospects in the short format. The young opener boasts an outstanding T20I record with 849 runs at an average of almost 37 and a strike rate of 196.07 in 24 games.Abhishek is also ranked the No. 1 T20I batter in the world in the latest ICC rankings."His preparation, his belief in his own ability, the range of shots that he has, and then the mindset to go out there and back himself from ball one. From the get-go, he’ll go after the bowling. That’s where he can be extremely dangerous, very explosive, and quietly confident about his own ability," said Shastri (via the aforementioned source).Abhishek will be playing his first international outing in Australia during the upcoming T20I series. The left-hander has enjoyed a 2025 to remember in T20Is thus far, averaging almost 50 at a strike rate of 208.80 in 12 matches.
