Yashasvi Jaiswal nicks off to Nandre Burger after flying start in IND vs SA 2025 1st ODI [Watch]

South Africa pacer Nandre Burger delivered the first breakthrough as India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal departed after a brisk start in the first match of the three-game ODI series. The contest is being played on Sunday, November 30, at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

The wicket came off the first ball of the fourth over of India’s innings. Burger bowled a length delivery outside off that straightened after pitching. Jaiswal poked at it and got a faint edge through to Quinton de Kock, who completed the catch behind the stumps as the Proteas claimed their first wicket.

The left-hander walked back after scoring 18 off 16 deliveries, striking two fours and a maximum. His dismissal left the hosts at 25/1 after 3.1 overs.

Rohit Sharma gets a reprieve after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dismissal as India look to steady the innings

After being asked to bat first, Yashasvi Jaiswal got India off to a positive start by striking a boundary off the very first ball. He maintained his aggressive intent before falling to Nandre Burger for 18 off 16 balls in the fourth over. On the final delivery of that same over, Rohit Sharma (1) received a reprieve when Tony de Zorzi put down a simple catch at deep square leg.

Meanwhile, Rohit and Virat Kohli have looked to steady the innings. At the time of writing, the hosts were 52/1 after seven overs, with Rohit on 11 and Kohli on 12.
