Yashasvi Jaiswal looked stunned after getting dismissed by Simon Harmer on Day 3 of the second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati on Monday, November 24. Notably, the left-handed batter was taken by surprise as the ball stuck on the surface before heading towards him, leading to a soft dismissal.

The wicket came in the 33rd over of India’s first innings. Harmer bowled a short delivery on off, and the ball turned away after pitching. The ball went slower than Jaiswal’s expectation. There was extra bounce on offer, and the opening batter ended up playing it towards backward point at the last minute. Marco Jansen dived forward to complete the catch. As a result, Jaiswal perished for 58 runs off 97 balls, missing out on a big score. India lost their second wicket for 95.

Opting to bat first, the Proteas posted 489 in their first innings. Senuran Muthusamy top-scored for the tourists, hitting 109 runs off 206 deliveries with the help of two sixes and 10 boundaries. Marco Jansen ably supported him with a quickfire 93 off 91 balls, comprising seven maximums and six fours. Kyle Verreynne also chipped in with 45 off 122. The trio helped stretch the team’s total from 246/6 to 489.

Notably, Bavuma hasn’t lost a Test match in his first 11 games, including 10 wins and a draw. He led SA to World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 glory earlier this year.
