South Africa clinched a thrilling 30-run victory over Team India in the first of the two Tests at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, taking a 1-0 lead. The Proteas have won a Test on Indian soil for the first time in 15 years as Temba Bavuma remains unbeaten as captain in red-ball cricket.The Proteas' last Test win before the one at the iconic Eden Gardens came in 2010 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur under Greaeme Smith's captaincy. South Africa had notably secured an innings and six-run victory over the hosts in Nagpur an drew the two-Test series.Hashim Amla had earned the Player of the Match award then for his 253. However, they ended up winless in their last two tours of India and had lost seven out of their last eight Tests ahead of the ongoing series.South Africa had their backs to the wall coming into Day 3 of the Test in Kolkata as they were reeling at 63/7 with a lead of only 93. But visiting captain Temba Bavuma scored a fighting 55 off 136 deliveries, with only four other batters getting to double figures.
