The left-hander advanced down the ground and attempted a slog on the second ball of the 38th over of India's first innings. He ended up edging the ball behind to the keeper and was given out. Pant reviewed the decision, only to burn the review eventually.

South Africa had put up a solid total of 489 in the first innings. India were in a spot of bother when Pant walked in. However, his dismissal pushed the team into further trouble as they fell to 105/5.

Having lost the first Test in Kolkata, India are under pressure in the ongoing second Test of the two-match series. They are in a must-win scenario to level the series. While their chances of winning appear bleak at the moment, the hosts would aim to fight and draw the series to avoid a 0-2 whitewash.

Rishabh Pant has struggled post his comeback

Rishabh Pant's comeback has not been quite great so far. The left-hander picked up a severe foot injury during the fourth Test in England and was out of action, making a comeback in the ongoing South Africa series.

He displayed exceptional form in England, scoring 479 runs from seven innings at an average of 68.42 with two hundreds and three half-centuries. However, in the three innings post his comeback so far, he has been unable to deliver an impactful performance.

In the first Test against South Africa, he looked promising in the first innings, making a 24-ball 27 with two boundaries and as many sixes. However, he failed to convert the start. In the second innings, he was dismissed for just two runs off 13 balls. He could not get going in the first innings of the ongoing second Test as well.
