Wasim Jaffer hilariously trolled South Africa following their 52-run defeat to India in the Women's World Cup 2025 final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2. The former cricketer posted a meme on social media, pointing out how India's men's and women's respective World Cup "jinx" was broken with wins over South Africa.

India clinched their maiden Women's ODI World Cup. The Men in Blue, on the other hand, ended their 11-year ICC title drought with a thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.

Jaffer shared a video of a fan singing 'This time for Africa' from Shakira's 'Waka Waka', the official theme song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

South Africa won the toss and chose to field first in the final. India posted an impressive total of 298. Opener Shafali Verma was the top performer, scoring 87 runs off 78 balls. Deepti Sharma (58 off 58) and Smriti Mandhana (45 off 58) also played impactful knocks.

Deepti was the pick of the Indian bowlers, recording fantastic figures of 9.3-0-39-5. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt continued her brilliant form, notching up a century. However, her 101-run knock from 98 balls went in vain as the side were bowled out for 246.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised the team's support staff following their successful campaign at the Women's World Cup 2025. She stated that their aim now was to make winning titles a habit.

The 35-year-old said in the post-match presentation:

"We need to give a lot of credit to our support staff. This team has been there from the last 2 years, we have not made a lot of changes which shows they really invested in us and today because of everyone we are standing here. This is the start, we wanted to break the barrier and now our next plan is to make it a habit.

"We were waiting for this moment; now the moment has come. Next year also there is a World Cup and then the Champions Trophy, so many big events coming up and we just want to keep improving every day, just want to keep giving our best."

Shafali Verma was named the Player of the match in the Women's World Cup 2025 final for her all-rounder heroics. Apart from her swashbuckling batting exploits, she also claimed two important wickets with the ball.
