Team India ace batter Virat Kohli dished out a fiery and aggressive celebration after scoring his 52nd ODI hundred in the series opener against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30. He recorded his first ton on home soil since 2023 to get the Men in Blue into a commanding position after being put into bat first. Virat Kohli came into bat in the fourth over of the innings and dominated proceedings from the word go. Instead of his trademark approach of building an innings, he took on the bowlers to record some memorable sixes inside the powerplay itself. He had to tweak his tempo after India lost a flurry of wickets in the middle overs as Rohit Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Washington Sundar departed to leave India at 200-4. Holding one end, Kohli continued to prod along, eventually reaching the three-figure mark in the 38th over with a boundary off Marco Jansen. The No.3 batter sprang into the air right after completing the single while letting out a roar and punching the air. He then took out his locket and kissed it in typical fashion, before his celebration was interrupted by a heckler, who fell at his feet. As security personnel escorted the fan away, Kohli looked to the skies with folded hands before resuming his innings.
