With a lot of talk around the future of the two legends in ODI cricket and a question mark around their spot for the 2027 World Cup, Bhawna's story was possibly directed towards critics and those who do not want them in the set-up.

Marking their return to international cricket, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma impressed in the previous ODI series in Australia. It was a tough start for Kohli as he was dismissed for consecutive ducks in the first two games. However, he scored a vital half-century (74 not out) in the final ODI in Sydney.
Rohit ended as the leading run-scorer of the series with 202 runs, including a half-century and an unbeaten 121 in he final match.

The two stalwarts carried their form from Australia into the first ODI against South Africa at home as well. Rohit Sharma opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal as India were asked to bat first. The hosts lost Jaiswal in the fourth over as Virat Kohli joined Rohit in the middle.
Both batters made their intent clear and took the attack to the South African bowlers. They struck a magnificent 136-run stand off 109 balls for the second wicket. Rohit got to his 60th ODI fifty and was dismissed for 57 off 51 balls.
Meanwhile, Kohli, who looked in sublime touch, made it big, scoring a scintillating hundred. The right-hander got to his 52nd ODI hundred. He made 135 runs off just 120 balls, striking at 112.5 with 11 fours and seven sixes in his knock.
