Virat Kohli delivered with the bat in the second ODI between India and South Africa in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. The right-handed batter smashed his 53rd ODI ton (84th overall), smashing 102 runs off 93 balls, hitting two sixes and seven fours. The 37-year-old was looking to continue his innings before throwing it away to Aiden Markram at long-on, looking furious.

The dismissal came in the 40th over of India’s innings. Lungi Ngidi bowled a length ball marginally wide of off-stump, and Kohli went downtown for a maximum. He failed to generate enough power before Markram completed a regulation catch. The ball hit the bottom portion of the bat, and the senior batter looked angry with himself, hitting his leg with his bat. Kohli waved his bat as he walked back to the pavilion, and the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
