Team India mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy struck on consecutive deliveries to dent South Africa's run-chase in the fifth T20I on Friday, December 19, in Ahmedabad. The 34-year-old trapped Proteas captain Aiden Markram lbw and followed it up by castling Donovan Ferreira for a golden duck. The dismissals came in the 13th over of the innings, which was Varun's third. Markram put pressure on the spinner in the second delivery of the over, stepping out to hit a boundary straight down the ground. However, the lap shot costed the visiting captain his wicket as he was trapped lbw on the next delivery. Although Markram reviewed the on-field decision, the call was unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Ferreira was cleaned up as the ball drifted in and sneaked past the inside edge as he played down the wrong line. The tourists were 130/3 at the start of the 13th over but slid to 136/5 by the end of it.Here's the video of the two dismissals:However, Chakaravarthy was denied a hat-trick as George Linde negotiated it fairly comfortably.Varun Chakaravarthy finishes with four wickets after India set 232 to win for South AfricaVarun Chakaravarthy.
