New Zealand pacer Trent Boult picked his dream six-a-side team ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 SA 20 (via MI Cape Town X handle). The veteran seamer went with Rohit Sharma as his first choice, calling him one of the best-ever batters to watch.

Rohit led the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2020 and 2021, with Boult being a key figure in the lineup. The duo reunited last season when the Kiwi pacer returned to the franchise in the IPL 2025 auction.

Rohit holds several records, including being the joint-record holder for most IPL titles as captain with five. He is also the only batter in the sport to score three double-centuries in ODIs.

The right-hander is also the all-time leader in ODI World Cup centuries with seven. Rohit also led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy titles.

Boult's second pick was former West Indian opener Chris Gayle, who is the all-time leading scorer in T20s with 14,562 runs, including 22 centuries. Gayle also played a vital role in the West Indies' title runs in the 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cups.

Trent Boult chose himself at No. 3, having picked up over 600 wickets in international cricket. The left-arm pacer is third all-time in wickets among New Zealand bowlers and helped the side win the 2021 World Test Championship (WTC) title.

Trent Boult rounds off his side with two pacers and a spinner

Trent Boult went with two pacers and a spinner to round off his dream six-a-side team. The Kiwi legend chose former Australian Shane Warne as the lone spinner in the side.

Warne is Test cricket's second leading wicket-taker with 708 scalps, including an incredible 37 five-wicket hauls. He also helped Australia win the 1999 ODI World Cup, being adjudged the Player of the Match in the semifinal and final.

Boult made a leftfield choice with Mohammed Shami as one of his two pacers, instead of Jasprit Bumrah, who many pick among Indian seamers. Boult and Bumrah also played together for MI in IPL 2025.

Shami is the fifth all-time leading wicket-taker in ODI World Cups with 55 scalps at an average of 13.52, including a record four 5-wicket hauls.

Boult's final pick was Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who boasts over 100 wickets in all three formats in international cricket.
