Team India batter Tilak Varma took an outstanding catch on the boundary line in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, October 30. Tilak covered significant ground and briefly went beyond the boundary line before stepping back in to hold on to the catch.

The dismissal came in the fifth over of the innings as Suryakumar Yadav decided to bring in leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, given Australia were running away with the game. With Travis Head belting one down the ground, Tilak ran to his left and grabbed the ball.

But realizing that he was going over the rope, the youngster tossed it up and returned into the field of play to catch the ball again. The third umpire ruled it out after checking it thoroughly.

The wicket off the first over sent down by Chakravarthy helped the Men in Blue break the opening partnership of 51 runs between Head and captain Mitchell Marsh. Head, who was dismissed for 28, belted three fours and a six.

Meanwhile, Tilak had failed to open his account after Aussie captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and sent the visitors into bat. Tilak became one of Josh Hazlewood's three victims as he skied one, and Josh Inglis took a simple catch. Hazlewood also dismissed Suryakumar Yadav (1) and Shubman Gill (5) to finish with stunning figures of 4-0-13-3.

Only Abhishek Sharma (68) and Harshit Rana (35) managed to reach double figures among the Indian batters. They joined hands to string a 56-run stand to rescue their side, propelling them to 125. Mitchell Marsh top-scored for Australia, adding 46 off 25 deliveries, while Josh Inglis (20) and Mitch Owen (14) also chipped in with small contributions.

The hosts eventually crossed the line with four wickets to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the T20I series.
