Team India star KL Rahul recently revealed why he doesn't get angry on the field. He stated that while he occasionally loses his cool, he tries not to show it because he then gets a call from his mother.
The wicketkeeper-batter's revelation came on the YouTube channel, '2 Sloggers'. Reacting to a video of him shouting at a teammate during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, he said:
At 7:44, "This must be Ravi Bishnoi. He was the one who did such things. It comes out. I hide it. Honestly, it's not like I am very calm. Maybe from 10 people, I might be one or two of those guys who are calmer than the rest. But I am angry, I just hide it well. Whenever I get angry, such videos come out, and then I get a call from my mother."
Notably, the video KL Rahul reacted to was from his stint as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain. He parted ways with the franchise after IPL 2024 and was later roped in by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for ₹14 crore.
The 33-year-old was last seen in action during India's recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia. He registered scores of 38 and 11 in the first two fixtures and didn't get a chance to bat in the third game. Australia beat India 2-1 in the series.
"Aaj mereko medal do" - KL Rahul reacts to his funny expression from 2023 ODI World Cup
During the same video, the hosts also showed KL Rahul a clip of his funny expression from India's 2023 ODI World Cup match against Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batter disclosed that it was a gesture towards the fielding coach T Dilip.
He mentioned that he looked at the fielding coach to signal that he deserved the best fielder medal for his catching in the game. Rahul said:
At 8:16, "his was for our fielding coach, Dilip sir. The videos of the fielding medal went viral at that time. I was looking at him and gesturing, 'Mere teen catch ho gaye hai. aaj mereko medal do' (I have taken three catches. Give me the medal today. He didn't give me the medal previously, and I was fighting with him, saying, 'I was the best fielder in that match'. He said, 'No, I have to give everybody.'"
KL Rahul is not part of India's squad for their upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia, beginning October 29. He is likely to retain his place in the Test side for the subsequent two-match home Test series against South Africa. The series kicks off at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 14.
