“Thank you for the overwhelming good wishes” - Yashasvi Jaiswal provides massive health update amid IND vs SA 2025 series

Star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a massive health update amid the five-match T20I series between India and South Africa. Jaiswal was hospitalised with acute gastroenteritis.

During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 clash between Mumbai and Rajasthan on December 16, Yashasvi Jaiswal fell ill. He had made 15 runs off 16 balls. Jaiswal later complained of severe stomach pain and was taken to the hospital.

However, there is nothing to worry about as the star himself issued an update regarding his health. The left-hander stated that he is recovering well. He expressed his gratitude for the medical support and also thanked everyone for wishing him a speedy recovery.

"Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the overwhelming good wishes over the last few days. I’m recovering well, grateful for the fantastic medical support, and looking forward to being back on the field soon!," Jaiswal wrote on his official X handle.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played three games in the tournament for Mumbai and showed top form. He scored 145 runs at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.80 with a half-century.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is not part of the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa. However, he played the ODI series in Shubman Gill's absence. While he could not do much in the first two games, he showed his class in the third and final match of the series.

India were chasing 271 runs to win the game and the series. Jaiswal struck a brilliant unbeaten century as he carried the innings, opening the batting. He made 116 not out of 121 balls with 12 boundaries and two sixes. The left-hander ensured to finish the chase as India got over the line comfortably in just 39.5 overs with nine wickets remaining.

He was also awarded 'Player of the Match' for his match-winning century that also helped India seal the series. The Men in Blue will next host New Zealand for a limited-overs series (ODI and T20I) in January 2026. It remains to be seen if Jaiswal will get an opportunity there.
