The KL Rahul-led India have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for a slow over rate in the second of the three-match ODI series in Raipur. The Men in Blue were two overs short as per time allowance amid dew-friendly conditions where the Proteas chased down 359, the joint-highest ODI total against India.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), match referee Richie Richardson charged India for breaching Article 22.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel regarding minimum over-rate offences.

As per the rules, players will be fined 5% of their match fees for every over they fall short of within the specified time.

India captain KL Rahul accepted the charges. There was no need for any formal hearing. The match saw three centuries. India's Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli hit 105 and 102, respectively. Later, Aiden Markram slammed 110 to help the tourists secure a four-wicket victory and level the series at 1-1.

KL Rahul leads India to third ODI series win, completes back-to-back series victories against South Africa

KL Rahul secured his third ODI series win as India beat South Africa by nine wickets to clinch the series 2-1 in Vizag on Sunday, December 6. It was his second consecutive series win against the Proteas. He previously led the Men in Blue to a 2-1 win in South Africa in 2023. Rahul was equally brilliant with the bat in the three-match series, amassing 60 and an unbeaten 66 in the first two ODIs. Team India didn't require his services in the third game as Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed an unbeaten 116, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli chipped in with 75 and 65 not out, respectively. Earlier, the hosts won the series opener by 17 runs in Ranchi, thanks to Kohli's century. The latter smashed 135 off 120 balls in that game.

The Men in Blue will next play a five-match T20I series against South Africa, which starts at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Tuesday, December 9.
