Surya's mother also urged everyone present at the religious ceremony to pray for Iyer's recovery.

"Mai yeh bolna chahti hu ki sabhi log Shreyas Iyer ke liye pray kijiye ki woh bohot acche se aa jaye. Maine kal suni ki uski tabiyat theek nahi hai aur mujhe bilkul accha nahi laga. Toh pray kijiye ki Chhathi Maiya kare ki woh apne ghar acche se aa jaye. (I want to tell everyone to pray for Shreyas Iyer that he comes back well. I heard that his health is not okay and I felt very bad. Please pray that he returns well to his home)," she said.

The BCCI also provided an update on his injury and condition in an official press release.

"Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding. The bleeding was promptly arrested. His condition is stable, and he continues to be under observation," the statement read.

Suryakumar Yadav also spoke about Iyer's condition during the press conference ahead of the five-match T20I series Down Under.

"We spoke to him on the first day when we got to know that he was injured. I had actually called him, then I got to know that he did not have his phone with him. So, I then called out physio, Kamlesh Jain, and he told me that Shreyas is stable. I've been talking to him for the last two days, and he has been replying. If he is replying on the phone, it means that he is stable. The doctor is also there with him, so it is looking good. It is good that he is talking, it is all normal," he said.
