Former cricketers Suresh Raina and Abhishek Nayar picked star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant as India's X factor for their upcoming two-match home series against South Africa. The southpaw is set to make his return to international cricket following a three-month injury break.Pant suffered a foot injury during India's fourth Test of the five-match Test series against England earlier this year in July. He was hit on the foot while attempting a reverse sweep off the bowling of pacer Chris Woakes. In a video posted by Stars Sports on X, Raina hailed Pant as India's biggest X factor for the South Africa series. He said:"The biggest X factor for India will be Rishabh Pant because he has a different batting style. He will have an advantage as both the grounds are on the smaller side."Nayar also echoed the same sentiments as Raina. Apart from Pant, he backed India captain Shubman Gill to be a standout performer. The cricketer-turned-coach remarked:"The standout player for me, always, when it comes to Test match cricket, there are two people, actually, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant."Pant captained India A in their recently concluded two-match unofficial Test series against South Africa A. He played a stunning 90-run knock in the first game and ultimately finished with 196 runs across four innings. The series ended in a 1-1 draw.Meanwhile, Pant missed India's two-match Test series against West Indies at home due to his injury. He looked in brilliant form on the England tour, amassing 479 runs from seven innings.Suresh Raina names two Indian bowlers who can be standout performers in the IND vs SA 2025 Test seriesSuresh Raina suggested that India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav could be the home team's standout bowling performers. He reckoned that conditions would favor Bumrah as there would be a lot of swing on offer early on at both venues. The 38-year-old remarked in the same video:"I think Jasprit Bumrah will be the standout player because the matches will start at 8:30 AM, and there will be a different type of swing. The other player will be Kuldeep Yadav."The Test series opener kicks off at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Friday, November 14. The second match will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, from November 22.
