However, Suryakumar Yadav continued to struggle with the bat. It was another flop show for the skipper as he failed to get going. India restricted South Africa to 117 all out, bowling first. Suryakumar walked in at number four. Despite there being no pressure of the target, he failed to close the game.

He was dismissed for 12 runs off 11 balls at a strike rate of 109.09. In the post-match press conference, he stated that he was batting beautifully in the nets and was out of runs but not out of form.

He will aim to come good with the bat in the two remaining matches of the series. The fourth game will be played on Wednesday, December 17, while the final match will be played on Friday, December 19.

Suryakumar Yadav's poor form continues from Asia Cup 2025

Post the Asia Cup, India played a five-match T20I series in Australia. While they won the series, their skipper continued to struggle with the bat. He managed just 84 runs from four innings at an average of 28.00.

In the ongoing series, he has just 29 runs from three innings at an average of 9.66 and a strike rate of 111.53. In the IPL 2025, he had a stellar run, scoring 717 runs from 16 games at an average of 65.18 and a strike rate of 167.91. However, he has been unable to translate those performances into international cricket throughout the year.

Heading into the 2026 T20 World Cup, Suryakumar's form is a massive concern, particularly with him set to lead the side.
