Both sides have been in impressive form in ODIs, with South Africa winning two out of their last three bilateral series in Australia and England. Meanwhile, Team India lost the ODI series in Australia 1-2 but won their previous 50-over assignment, the Champions Trophy in Dubai earlier in the year, without losing a single outing.

On the other hand, former Indian wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel backed Team India to inflict a 3-0 whitewash on the Proteas in the upcoming ODI series. The two teams last met in a bilateral series in December 2023, with India winning the three-match series 2-1.

The Men in Blue also won the last bilateral ODI series between the sides in India 2-1 in 2022.

Dale Steyn and Parthiv Patel also made their picks for the highest run-scorer and leading wicket-taker in the upcoming India-South Africa ODI series. Both former cricketers picked left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav to finish atop the wicket-taking chart.

The 30-year-old boasts an outstanding ODI record against the Proteas, picking up 27 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.51 and an economy of 4.55.

Meanwhile, Steyn backed his former teammate Quinton de Kock to top the run-scoring chart in the series. The 32-year-old has historically enjoyed success against Team India in ODIs, averaging almost 54 at a strike rate of 91.58 in 20 matches.

Finally, Parthiv picked former skipper Rohit Sharma to finish as the series' leading run-scorer. The 38-year-old is coming off an excellent ODI series down under, scoring a breathtaking 121* in the final ODI.

Yet, Rohit has struggled against South Africa in the 50-over format, averaging only 33.58 at a strike rate of 82.66 in 26 outings. However, the champion batter boasts a stellar ODI record at home, averaging over 57 at a strike rate of 103.70 in 94 matches.
