Shubman Gill, KL Rahul slip while Kuldeep Yadav closes in on the top 5 in ICC rankings after AUS vs IND 2025 ODIs

India captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul slipped in the latest ICC rankings for ODI batters, released on Wednesday, November 5. Gill and Rahul dropped one place apiece from third and 14th spots, respectively.

Gill, in particular, continued his downward trend after losing the top spot last week. Notably, the opening batter managed just 45 runs in his three ODIs in his first series as captain in Australia.

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell has climbed two spots to third place after emerging as the leading run-getter with 178 runs in three innings during the home ODI series against England. Like Mitchell, another Kiwi player, Rachin Ravindra jumped four places to 14th in the latest ODI rankings for batters.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retained their No. 1 and sixth spots, respectively.

On the bowling front, India’s ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav has risen one place to No. 6 in the latest ICC ODI rankings. The change came after the left-arm wrist-spinner bagged one wicket in the third and final ODI against Australia, where India won by nine wickets. It was his only outing in the three-match series.

Meanwhile, England pacer Jofra Archer surged two spots after taking three wickets in the ODI series against England. He sits third, behind Rashid Khan (one) and Keshav Maharaj (second).

Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy retain top spot in latest ICC T20I rankings

India’s swashbuckling opener Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy retained their top spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batters and bowlers, respectively. Abhishek enjoys a 76-point gap with second-placed Phil Salt, while Chakaravarthy has 73 more points than Akeal Hosein.

Notably, Abhishek is the leading run-getter in the ongoing T20I series Down Under. The southpaw has bagged 112 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 167.16 with a best score of 68 (37). Meanwhile, Varun has bagged four wickets in two innings.

Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has broken into the top 10 (up two places) following his 3/13 against India in the second T20I. Other major gainers were Bangladesh duo Mujeeb Ur Rahman (up 13 spots to 14th), Mahedi Hasan (jumped six places to 17th), West Indies pair Jason Holder (surged nine rungs to joint 23rd) and Roston Chase (rose 13 places to joint 38th). Meanwhile, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza skyrocketed 32 positions to 33rd.

Among T20I all-rounders in the latest ICC rankings, Hardik Pandya dropped two spots to fourth after his absence due to injury. His decline saw the rise of Sikandar Raza (surged three rungs to second) and West Indies’ Roston Chase (jumped six spots to third).

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah continues to be the World No.1 bowler in Tests with 882 points. New Zealand’s Matt Henry (846) eclipsed Noman Ali (843) to take second place.
