Team India T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill disappointed once again during the third match against South Africa. The game was played on Sunday, December 14, in Dharamsala. India won by seven wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

South Africa were bowled out for just 117 batting first. Shubman Gill opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma. While Gill looked good at the start, he tapered off and appeared rusty in the middle once again. On the fourth ball of the 11th over by Marco Jansen, he chopped on and found an inside edge that shattered the stumps. Jansen came around the wicket and got the better of Gill with the angle.

He did not look at his very best as his innings finally came to an end in an ugly fashion. While Abhishek and Gill added 60 runs for the first wicket off just 32 balls, the major contribution came from Abhishek, who smashed an 18-ball 35.

Eventually, Shubman Gill managed a run-a-ball 28 that included five boundaries. He was visibly disappointed with himself and in disbelief as he walked back to the pavilion.

Shubman Gill's poor run continues in T20Is

Shubman Gill faced another failure as his poor form in T20Is continued. In his last ten innings, including the third T20I here against South Africa, he has scored just 180 runs with a top score of 46.

Despite India being 2-1 up in the series, his form has been a major concern. In the three games so far, he has scores of 4, 0, and 28. There have been incresing talks about his spot in the T20I side given his consistent poor run with the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson sitting out.

The pressure will only increase on Gill from here on. Being the vice-captain and getting the long rope, he will have to come good soon. He will have to deliver in the remaining games of the series to gain some confidence and form heading forward.

With the T20 World Cup soon approaching, Gill will have to start firing consistently with the bat at the top.
