Security concerns at Arun Jaitley Stadium amid Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash after blast outside Red Fort: Reports

Security has been beefed up near the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi ahead of the fourth and final day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir, reported PTI on Monday (November 10). The security measure has been taken after a blast took place near the Red Fort, which is nearly two kilometres from the sporting venue.

In a statement, Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI:

“Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir.”
“I would be getting in touch with Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises,” he added.

As per reports, there was a high-intensity explosion from a car parked near the Red Fort metro station during the evening hours on Monday, which led to the loss of eight lives. At least two dozen people have been injured and are being treated at a local hospital.


Jammu & Kashmir on top of Delhi in Ranji Trophy match

A clinical all-round display has placed Jammu & Kashmir in a strong position against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy match.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 55/2 at stumps on Day 3, with Qamran Iqbal and Vanshaj Sharma at the crease. They need 124 runs to win the match.

Asked to bat first, Delhi were bundled out for 211 in their first innings. Skipper Ayush Badoni, Ayush Doseja, and Sumit Mathur chipped in with half-centuries apiece. Auqib Nabi bagged a fifer for Jammu & Kashmir, while Vanshaj Sharma and Abid Mushtaq scalped two apiece.

In response, J&K put up 310 in their first innings, gaining a 99-run lead. Skipper Paras Dogra scored a century, returning with 106 off 183 deliveries, while Abdul Samad and wicketkeeper-batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan chipped in with scores of 85 (115) and 47 (81), respectively. Simarjeet Singh starred with the ball, returning with figures of 6/52.

In their second innings, Delhi managed 277. Skipper Badoni top-scored with 72 off 73 deliveries, while Doseja contributed 62 off 88 balls. Vanshaj Sharma emerged as the leading wicket-taker with six scalps, while Sahil Lotra picked up three wickets.
