Sanjay Bangar picks former CSK star over Ravindra Jadeja for the better Test all-rounder amid IND vs SA 2025 series

Former cricketer Sanjay Bangar recently picked an ex-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star as a better Test all-rounder than India's Ravindra Jadeja. The 53-year-old made his choice during a segment, 'Stay silent until you hear a better Test all-rounder than Ravindra Jadeja.'

The ESPNcricinfo segment started with India's spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel's name. However, Bangar chose to remain silent.

The other nominees included Jason Holder (West Indies), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh), Marco Jansen (South Africa), Roston Chase (West Indies), Mitchell Marsh (Australia), Mitchell Santner (New Zealand), Cameron Green (Australia) and Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh).

Notably, Jadeja is currently ranked No. 1 in the ICC men's Test all-rounder rankings with a rating of 426. Stokes, on the other hand, has 295 points to his name and is placed third.

Jadeja has amassed 4,035 runs across 131 Test innings and has bagged 342 wickets from 165 innings. Stokes has scored 7,032 runs in 206 innings, while his wicket tally stands at 230 from 170 innings.

India suffered a 30-run defeat to South Africa in the recently concluded Test series opener at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Ravindra Jadeja's all-rounder performances were among the few positives for the hosts in the defeat.

The southpaw played an important 27-run knock from 45 balls in India's first innings. He was the pick of the bowlers when South Africa batted for the second time, registering figures of 20-3-50-4.

Jadeja scored 18 runs from 26 balls in the fourth innings, where India were bowled out for just 83 while chasing a 124-run target. During the Test, he became the fourth player to achieve the milestone of 4000 runs and 300 wickets in the format.

The second and final Test of India's Test series against South Africa will be played at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, from Saturday, November 22.
