Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja got the better of Ryan Rickelton as South Africa lost their first wicket in the second innings on Day 4 (Tuesday, November 25) of the second Test. The match is being played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

The dismissal came on the third ball of the 19th over of the Proteas’ innings. Jadeja bowled a length delivery, and Rickelton, stepping down the track to loft it over the on-side, misculed it off the leading edge to cover, where Mohammed Siraj took a sharp catch.

The left-hander fell for 35 off 64 balls, hitting four boundaries. His wicket left South Africa at 59/1 after 18.3 overs. At the time of writing, the Proteas were 66/1 after 24 overs, leading by 354 runs, with Aiden Markram (24) and Tristan Stubbs (3) at the crease.


South Africa seize control after commanding first innings lead in 2nd Test

South Africa dominated the second Test after winning the toss and choosing to bat, amassing a massive 489 runs in their first innings. Senuran Muthusamy top-scored for the visitors, notching his maiden century with 109 off 206 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes. Marco Jansen fell short of his first Test century, scoring 93 off 91 balls with six fours and seven sixes.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each.

In reply, India’s openers KL Rahul (22) and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 65 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswal scored a fifty, finishing with 58 off 97 balls. However, after his dismissal, India lost wickets quickly, with Sai Sudharsan (15), Dhruv Jurel (0), Rishabh Pant (7), Ravindra Jadeja (6), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (10) all falling cheaply.

Washington Sundar (48) and Kuldeep Yadav (19) put up some resistance, but India were eventually bowled out for just 201 in 83.5 overs. Marco Jansen claimed six wickets as South Africa secured a commanding 288-run first-innings lead.
