India will host the upcoming T20 World Cup, along with Sri Lanka, and being the defending champions, their fans will be closely tracking the developments. The Men in Blue had defeated South Africa in the 2024 edition's final in Barbados by seven runs to win their second title.

The new jersey features two stars above the logo of the BCCI, indicating their two T20 World Cup trophies. Here's the video of the jersey unveiling:

Rohit, who had propelled the Indian team to glory in 2024 in the West Indies, was announced as the brand ambassador of the upcoming tournament by the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah. As the veteran cricketer has retired from T20Is, he will not be part of the upcoming tournament. Hence, Rohit claimed it would be different to watch it from home, stating, as quoted by India Today:

"Winning an ICC trophy is a huge challenge. I’ve seen that personally over the years—I’ve completed 18 years in international cricket. I’ve been fortunate to win two recently, and two early in my career. But in the middle, there was a long drought where we couldn’t win an ICC trophy, and I know how desperate we were as players, as a team, and as management to get our hands on one. To finally come out and win those trophies felt really good. You can see the amount of happiness it brings to the country with the sport we play. Now, to sit on the other side and watch the T20 World Cup—having played all the World Cups and not being there—will definitely feel different."

Team India have ten T20Is to be played before the World Cup begins in February.
