Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and other cricket legends attend IND vs SA ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final [Watch]

Several cricket legends, including Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, attended the ICC Women’s World Cup final between India and South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2. In a video uploaded by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the star cricketers were seen in the stands.

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and National Cricket Academy (NCA) head VVS Laxman were also seen sitting together, chatting. Among the four decorated personalities, Gavaskar and Tendulkar have won the 1983 and 2011 ODI World Cups, respectively.

For the unversed, the Women in Blue are in search of their maiden ODI World Cup win. They will be keen to become third time lucky after finishing on the losing side against Australia and England in the 2005 and 2017 finals, respectively. They defeated defending champions Australia in the semifinal by five wickets, chasing down a record total of 339, the highest in a World Cup knockout in the women’s game.

India set a 299-run target for South Africa in the ICC Women’s World Cup final

Harmanpreet Kaur-led India posted 298/7 against South Africa after being asked to bat first in the ICC Women’s World Cup final.

Shafali Verma starred with the bat, scoring 87 runs off 78 balls with the help of two sixes and seven fours. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana also chipped in with 45 off 58 deliveries, hitting eight fours. The duo put on a 104-run partnership for the opening wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, and Amanjot Kaur contributed 24 (37), 20 (29), and 12 (14), respectively, in the middle overs.

Later, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh provided the final flourish. Deepti scored a run-a-ball 58, including one six and three fours. Meanwhile, Richa hit 34 off 24 deliveries, comprising two sixes and three boundaries.

Ayabonga Khakha emerged as the leading wicket-taker for South Africa, returning with figures of 3/58.

South Africa are coming on the back of a thumping 125-run victory over England in the semifinal. The Proteas Women have already defeated India by three wickets in the ongoing tournament. Like the Women in Blue, they are also in search of a maiden World Cup title.
