Rohit, who has had tremendous success in white-ball cricket as captain, helped the Men in Blue break the curse of not winning an ICC event since 2013 by propelling them to T20 World Cup glory last year. The 38-year-old also led them to Champions Trophy 2025 success in the UAE.

"I am so grateful for this crowd, they have been really amazing. Thank you for being with us in all our ups and downs. Last game also, we spoke that self-belief was there, even though we lost three back-to-back games, we knew we had something special to turn things around. They stayed positive, we knew what we had to do, everyone was so involved, they were there day and night and this team deserves to be there."

The 104-run partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set the tone for India's total of 298. Before taking five scalps, Deepti also scored a run-a-ball 58. Laura Wolvaardt scored a fighting hundred (101) but could not find support from other batters.
