Former India captain Rohit Sharma announced his intentions with a massive six in the third ODI against South Africa in Vizag on Saturday, December 6. The 38-year-old charged Lungi Ngidi down the track for his favorite pull shot, earning a maximum.

The shot came in the eighth over of India’s run chase. Ngidi bowled a short delivery, and Rohit stepped out and moved towards the leg side to middle the pull shot and dispatch the ball over deep mid-wicket for an 87-meter six. There was a sweet sound as the ball hit the timber, and the crowd roared in delight.

Rohit Sharma is in a red-hot form in ODIs, hitting three back-to-back 50-plus scores with the best score of an unbeaten 121 in Australia. The right-handed batter slammed 57 off 51 balls in the series opener, going past Shahid Afridi (351) for most sixes in the 50-over format. He, however, managed just 14 runs in the second ODI.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India get off to a promising start while chasing 271 against South Africa in the ODI series decider.

At the time of writing, the Men in Blue were 54/1 after 11 overs, with Jaiswal (20) and Rohit (24) at the crease.

Asked to bat first, the Proteas were bundled out for 270 in 47.5 overs. Quinton de Kock top-scored for the visitors, scoring 106 off 89 balls. It was his seventh ton against India in the format, overall 23rd. His innings comprised six maximums and eight boundaries. Captain Temba Bavuma also chipped in with 48 off 67 deliveries as the duo put on a 113-run stand for the second wicket.

Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav were the stars with the ball for Team India, finishing with figures of 66/4 and 41/4, respectively.

The KL Rahul-led side won the opening game by 17 runs but failed to defend 359 in the second ODI, losing by four wickets. They will look to seal the series 2-1 by winning the ongoing game.
