Ravindra Jadeja got out in an ugly manner after getting hit by Marco Jansen on Day 3 of the second Test between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Monday, November 24. The left-handed batter departed for six runs off 18 balls to leave the hosts reeling at 122/7.

The dismissal came in the 44th over of India’s first innings. Jansen bowled a well-directed bouncer that angled in from outside off and hit Jadeja on the shoulder before taking an edge off the bat on his way to Simon Harmer in the slip cordon. The senior all-rounder pointed towards his shoulder, but Jansen was convinced and prompted skipper Temba Bavuma to take a DRS review. The replays showed the ball hit the bat, and the on-field umpire reversed the decision from not out to out.

Marco Jansen is on a roll as India crumble on Day 3 of the 2nd Test

Led by Marco Jansen, a clinical bowling display helped South Africa dominate India on Day 3 of the second Test. The speedster began his carnage with the ball by dismissing Dhruv Jurel for a duck in the first session. He then removed skipper Rishabh Pant, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ravindra Jadeja after the play resumed in the second session. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal looked the only batter in control, scoring 58 runs off 97 balls, before a delivery stopped onto him after pitching, leading to his dismissal.

At the time of writing, the hosts were 135/7, with Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav at the crease.

Batting first, the Proteas put up 489 in their first innings. Senuran Muthsamy top-scored with 109 (206), while Marco Jansen slammed 93 (91). Skipper Temba Bavuma, Tristan Stubbs, and Kyle Verreynne contributed with their 40s. Openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton chipped in with 38 and 35, respectively. Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball for India, picking up four wickets.

India will look to avoid their second series loss at home after a 0-3 bashing by New Zealand last year. The tourists won the first of the two-match series by 30 runs in Kolkata, thanks to Simon Harmer, who scalped eight wickets.
