R Premadasa Stadium Schedule T20 World Cup 2026: Complete match list, dates, venues and timings in IST

The much-awaited schedule for T20 World Cup 2026 was confirmed on Tuesday, November 25. The tournament will be played from February 7 to March 8. The 20-team event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has been chosen as one of the eight venues for T20 World Cup 2026 matches - five of the venues are in India and three in Sri Lanka.

The first match of the T20 World Cup to be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will be played between Sri Lanka and Ireland in Group B on February 8. Australia will take on Ireland on February 11 and Zimbabwe on February 13. The India-Pakistan Group A clash will be held on Colombo on February 15.

Sri Lanka will face Zimbabwe in a Group B clash on February 19. The Premadasa Stadium will also host three Super 8 matches in Group 2 - Y2 vs Y3 (February 21), Y2 vs Y4 (February 25), Y1 vs Y2 (February 27). In case, Pakistan qualify for the knockouts, they will play the first semifinal on March 4 at this venue. If Pakistan reach the final, the Premadasa Stadium will host the summit clash on March 8.

T20 World Cup 2026 seedings

The 20 nations taking part in T20 World Cup 2026 have been split into four groups of five each. After 40 games in the group stage, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eights, which starts on February 21. The top four teams after the Super Eights will progress to the knockouts.

The seedings for Super Eights are as follows - India (X1), Australia (X2), West Indies (X3), South Africa (X4), England (Y1), New Zealand (Y2), Pakistan (Y3) and Sri Lanka (Y4). Any nation that qualifies from a group instead of a pre-seeded team will replace it in the Super Eights.
