"Only they can handle his personality" - Robin Uthappa's stunning claim on CSK's potential targets ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

Former cricketer Robin Uthappa believes Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will go after Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell at the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. Maxwell will be up for grabs at the event after being released by the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Uthappa, who has played for CSK in the past, claimed that head coach Stephen Fleming has a liking for Maxwell. Suggesting that Chennai could be the ideal team for the swashbuckling batter, he said in a YouTube live:

"There will be guys like Maxwell and Liam Livingstone at the auction. I know that Stephen Fleming likes Maxwell, so they might go after him. He could go there, and I think only they (CSK) can handle his personality."

Maxwell had a disastrous season with the bat last year, scoring just 48 runs across six innings. Uthappa remarked that after several flop seasons with the bat, he would now consider the Australian player as a bowler. He added:

"I consider Maxwell a bowler more than a batter, especially in the IPL, because he has faltered a lot. But as a bowler, he has been quite consistent. I think his utility as a bowler will be a lot more. If he clicks as a batter, it would be a blast."

Maxwell did a decent job for PBKS in IPL 2025. The off-spinner finished with four wickets from six innings at an economy rate of 8.46.

"He has to just stand and deliver" - Robin Uthappa backs Donovan Ferreira to do well for RR in IPL 2026

South Africa's Donovan Ferreira returned to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the franchise traded him from the Delhi Capitals (DC). Robin Uthappa opined that the 27-year-old would excel for the team, especially in their home ground.

He stated in the same video:

"He will dominate at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The ball comes fast on the wicket, but there's not much bounce. So, he has to just stand and deliver. He won't be bothered by pace because South Africa has one of the quickest wickets in the world."

Ferreira has played just three IPL matches so far in his career and has just nine runs to his name. This will be his second stint with RR, having been part of their squad previously as well in 2023 and 2024.
